Bubbles & Birthdays

Today it felt like spring once again.  It was welcomed in our house.  Parker has been asking all week to go outside.  It's been rainy, cold, damp and gloomy..I haven't wanted to venture out at all, instead bribing the kids with movies to stay inside and be still....I feel a little bad about that, but then again, kinda not.  While it was still cool this morning, we ventured out anyway.  Parker tried out her new bubble wand and loved it.  Brecken wanted to stay inside, as she has no desire to get dressed these days.  She only wants to wear her "dance dress", and dance and do her "ymnastics".  I can't get her out of this dress, as soon as she gets home from school, it's on, first thing in the morning, it's on, she's even wore it to bed a few times..It's pretty funny but wears me out all at the same time.  I've seriously got to get her enrolled in dance or gymnastics soon.  I think she'll LOVE it!

I was also able to finally plant my flowers that were purchased over the weekend, I've been waiting for a nice day to do this, and it finally came.  Oh, and today is also my birthday!  It's been a great day.  Beautiful sunshine, flowers planted, fresh flowers from my hubby and cupcakes for dessert!  All in all a good day.

Easter Egg Hunt 2011

Today has been a full day of fun!  Every year we have been blessed to be included in my sister in law's family tradition.  They have gotten together over the years with extended family starting when they were itty bitty to celebrate Easter weekend with a family dinner on the Saturday before Easter followed by an egg hunt!  The group gets bigger and bigger each year it seems, and the kids really enjoy themselves.  Aunt Roma's house has a huge sand area which my girls love, chickens, cows, land to run, playhouses...what's not to love when you're little!

We finished off the afternoon visiting with cousins from KC and a impromptu dinner to celebrate my upcoming birthday next week. 

Girls Trip

Every year or so the girls on my mom's side of the family get together for a girls trip of shopping.  Year's ago my grandma Winnie started the tradition.  Over the years we've been to Minneapolis, Dallas, San Antonio.  As my grandparents got older we started staying closer to home and would alternate between here and Kansas City...My grandma isn't able to join us any more on our trips, due to her Alzheimer's, but we feel it's important to continue on with the tradition.  If she knew, she would LOVE that we're still doing it, and grandpa would love it too.  It was something they started and we won't ever forget that, and love that they did!  It's fun to have a couple of days with no kiddos, eating, shopping, talking and bonding!  This year we headed up to KC and stayed at my cousin Amy's house!  We hit our favorite Nell Hills, and then headed to the Country Club Plaza and Oak Park Mall!  We shopped till we dropped and had a great time!

Sweet Visitor

This morning I got a call asking for help from Chris' cousins.  Would we mind watching baby Elise for an hour?  OF COURSE we would!!  The girls were so excited to have baby Elise over..they got out their blankets, books, pillow pets, singing stuffed puppy, old baby rattles.  They played with her and it was so sweet watching the girls with her.  She was tired, and fell asleep in my arms, which was also so sweet!  The girls came in the room wispering and just smiling big that she was asleep!  I loved having her too!  Nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby limp in your arms!  What a fun unexpected morning.

Loose

Parker has her first loose tooth, and she couldn't be more excited!  I wonder how long before it actually falls out?....Have I mentioned that she's getting to be such a big girl?...ahhh

We also picked Lilac's yesterday, and have them all over the house.  I love the burst of spring and the lovely aroma in the house.  It just makes me happy~

Brecken's Turn

Brecken has been such a trooper watching Parker play soccer for the last year. She's patiently waited until she was old enough to do it herself. She's watched many games, and cheered her sister on. Today she got her chance to play her first sport! She's doing it with her daddy, which just makes her smile! She had a great time and it was so fun to see her interact with Chris without the interruption of Parker. It was just her and her daddy!

My Big Girl

Parker is growing up so fast these days.  She's such a remarkable little girl who does these grown up things and I can't believe it some days.  In the midst of all her big girl things, she still likes to take a good nap..We had a full morning, with school, and then friends over for lunch and playtime.  At about 2 o'clock this afternoon, I told the girls to head to their rooms for an hour of quiet time.  As I headed up the stairs I could hear Brecken calling for me, and a "help" in with it...as I entered her room, she had climbed up on to the book shelf and was stuck..she couldn't/wouldn't climb down until I could help her...I'm not sure how long she had been in that position, and had been calling for me as I didn't hear a thing.  I headed into Parker's room to ask why she didn't hear Brecken calling for me, and to come for help...This is what I found!

On another note Sunday was REALLY HOT here!  The girls wanted to get into their swimsuits and play in the sprinklers.  Parker loved it..Brecken not so much!  She doesn't like the water in her face.
