It's My Turn

Brecken was so excited about going back to school today!  When Nana rang the door bell, Brecken ran to her usual spot on the steps to wait, and shouted, "it's my turn, it's my turn"!

My friend Stephanie and I took the girls to lunch afterwards to celebrate the first day of school!  The girls had a great day!

Ouch...

Since Parker's been in school Brecken's quiet time has been moved to the basement.  She's done really well entertaining herself while I get things done, or have some down time of peace & quiet.  Today though, she decided to be a monkey, which did not work in her favor at all.  She came upstairs crying while I was on the phone with the school and I dismissed her at first.  She finally got my attention, and I quickly got off the phone.  Apparently, she decided it would be a good idea to hang on the door of the dresser that the dress up clothes are in..of course, it came down on her, and hit her in the nose...thankfully she was able to push it back up (it's not super heavy as it has only a few dress up clothes which weigh next to nothing) and let's just say it totally scared her!  We put ice on it and talked about how that was a really bad idea, and that I'm SO THANKFUL that nothing worse happened.

You can bet she'll never do that again!

Here's to starting preschool with a banged up nose:)

B Time

I never fully understood why other moms we're slightly annoyed that pre-school started after regular school starts..that is until now.  Brecken doesn't start school until after labor day, which is a good 3 weeks after everyone else goes back to school!  Now I get it!  It's a hard three weeks being in limbo.  We're kind of in a routine, and kind of not.  On the one hand, Brecken and I are getting some really good one on one time, on the other hand, I'm getting nothing done as Brecken wants to be doing something all the time!

We've been busy playing, swinging outside, having play dates, waiting for Parker to get home...

Papa came to visit during his lunch hour one day!  Only another 14 more days and Brecken starts school too!   But who's counting:)

Oremus

What did we learn in the first two days of school?  Oremus or Let us Pray in Latin.  Africa. Genesis 1:1. Galatians 5: 23, 23.

Parker kept saying "Oremus, means let us pray tonight after dinner"...I had to look that one up to see if it was Latin..It was.  She may be smarter then her momma by the end of kindergarten!

Thumbs Up

When I asked Parker if she had a thumbs up or down day, the response was a thumbs up!

I'm happy to report, she had a great first day of kindergarten!  She LOVES it, just like I knew she would!

Hello Kindergarten

We were up early this morning with time to spare!  Summer is over for one of our kiddos, and she couldn't be more thrilled!  I'm happy to report that no tears were shed, which just means that we were all ready.  I'm so excited for her and can't wait to see all that she accomplishes and learns in kindergarten.  She's going to do great!  Brecken is a little sad that Parker is gone, but before we know it, she'll be starting school, and our new normal will set in.

Tea Party

Summer is almost over for some of us. This week is our week to get ready for school.  We're back to waking up earlier, and bedtime is set at 8 again.  Swim lessons are over, as is gymnastics.  We've got nothing going on per se, but we're trying to maximize the most of the time we have left.  Parker's first day of school is next Wednesday, and boy is she ready.  I think we've reached the point where we're all board with one another...Thankfully, I've got a few fun things planned for the rest of the week, but yesterday and today hasn't been the greatest with planned activities.

Parker has been into having a tea party any chance she'll get.  When she suggested it right before lunch time, we decided to have a tea party with lunch!  I pulled out the table cloth, flowers, used the "fun" dishes, the girls dressed up in play clothes, and brought up the tea set.  I think they enjoyed it!  This afternoon we're off to the pool so hopefully today will be a success!

I've enjoyed the summer and the freedom it allows.  The sleeping in, swimming, and no big agenda was welcomed, but after a few months of this, I'm ready for school to start, to get back into a good routine, and for the weather to get cooler~
